Maybe I am wrong, but I do not see anything "trumping" email. We still use the postal service because somethings you need to physically send. Yes, the e-mail has replaced the hand written correspondence of a letter, but email is so useful in so many ways, I do not see it ever going away. It even alerts you on your phone now, as quick as a text message. I think it all depends on the situation you are in as to how you want to communicate... what suits your needs the best? An email, text, phone call or post on your social network. Every person is different and I think its too soon to say that something overrides something else.
As my weekly blogging assignment, I chose Youtube. Although it is not a reading based blog, it is an CMS blog that everyone can post new videos to voice opinions and new information to the world. It is amazing if you search one thing, where you will end up by the time you call your search to an end. I started on YouTube searching for videos of overweight people (for another assignment) and before I knew it I was watching TLC videos of the conjoined twin sisters, Brittany and Haley and how only ONE of them was engaged. This is an amazing site because you can go in different directions that you might not have thought to search on your own, or even get completely distracted. The side bar suggests other videos or posts that you may want to look at based on what you typed in for your search criteria.
This blog would be most useful in getting a message out for awareness, entertainment, etc. It would not be someone's top choice for a "quick" communication message.
