Following uwishunu.com

This week I followed the uwishunu.com blog, which is the official tourism blog for Philadelphia. This blog tells the user what is going on in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. I don't think I'd know about a lot of the events advertised if it weren't for uwishunu. I enjoyed following them all week because they're blogging about stuff I'm interested in. Uwishunu would appeal to a large audience in Philadelphia because it's not specific to just one type of activity or event. There are many contributors to this blog so it covers a very large area of interests.

I think the way blogs are tied into social media make it very easy for people to always be connected to the blog. Uwishunu also has a Twitter and Facebook page, as well as an RSS feed. All these pages bring you back to the blog, but social media is a faster way of getting the headlines rather then scrolling through the blog. I also followed Uwishunu on twitter where they posted the latest blog entry titles and a link back. If I saw something in my Twitter that interested me then I went to the blog. People have so many different pages and people they follow that Twitter can be a good way to see everything at once. If I have 5 minutes during my day I'll log onto Twitter and get the latest news and blogs from everyone rather then just scrolling through one blog.

A blog is a great way to informally get information out to your viewers. When paired up with other social media it seems to be even more effective. I think having multiple people posting and covering a variety of interests makes Uwishunu a successful blog.
