This was an interesting article. It made me think about how I communicate - not unlike any other articles we read this semester - but also made me consider the pain-points of those communication channels.
I probably send about 30 emails a day on average, multiplied for the 11 years I've been a student or working professional. But because this is (or was) the most mainstream communication channel, I didn't actually think about what could be a better alternative. I suppose it's quite situational: using IM to communicate to our design vendors is preferable than email since it's usually a question that can be answered with a one-word response; email is preferred over phone when you're working globally; meetings are preferred since it's hard to gauge the scope of a large project over email. Do I think email will go away? No. But just like any other technology, it will improve - sooner than later hopefully!
I chose Smashing Magazine and Noupe Design Blog. I personally find the blogging platform useless because I never actually post or comment, I always either sign up for the RSS feed or email to receive the daily posts. The content on these particular sites are best suited for blogging platforms and Facebook and least suited for SMS and Twitter.
